I started my career as an electrical and electronics engineer, happily wiring circuits and troubleshooting gadgets. My expertise even took me to the sunny shores of the Dominican Republic, where I was working in my field—until COVID-19 hit. With lockdowns in place and nothing but Netflix for company, I binged my way through countless shows. But there’s only so much TV one can watch before your brain starts begging for a new challenge. That’s when I decided to learn something new: programming.
What started as a way to pass the time quickly turned into a full-blown passion. My daytime tv shows were swapped for coding tutorials, and I realized I enjoyed debugging code way more than I ever did fixing circuit boards. I knew I had found my calling.
Determined to make this my career, I began freelancing, honing my skills through various projects, and eventually joined a company full-time, where I now get to do what I love every day—without the guilt of one more “just one more episode” excuse.
From engineer to coder, it’s been quite a journey, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
